Management Accountant - Ref 1010/cs
The primary objective of the role is to provide financial and management information to the Group. The duties will comprise routine tasks and one-off assignments. The post holder will be responsible for the following:

1. The production of monthly management accounts. This will involve ensuring that the accounts are fully reconciled to the actual and budget ledgers. This includes producing a written commentary to accompany each set of management accounts. The postholder will be responsible for presenting these accounts to the Group's management team on a monthly basis.
2. Arranging and attending monthly budget holder meetings. The comments from these meetings will form the basis of the commentary for the management accounts.
3. Maintenance of the budget ledger, to ensure that any budget transfers requested are actioned and that the budget ledger is fully reconciled.
4. Undertake variance analysis, identify significant variations and investigate these, and report upon remedial action with budget holders.
5. Ensure the analysis of property assets is reconciled to the trial balance on a monthly basis.
6. Assess final development scheme costs including apportioned administration costs and capitalised interest, to enable the development team to prevent final scheme costs to the board.
7. Assist with the preparation of the Group's annual revenue and capital budgets within the agreed timescales.
8. Ensure that the management accounts and budgetary control procedures are up to date and relevant.
9. Ensure that adequate training is given to finance staff

Person specification:

1. CCAB qualified.
2. At least five years management accounting experience.
3. Housing association experience is highly desirable.
4. Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain financial terms to non-financial personnel.
6. Good team player.
7. Flexible, with the ability to manage multiple tasks ranging from reconciliations to informing management team of issues which will determine business outcomes.
8. Good time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
9. High degree of computer literacy, including advanced Excel skills. Experience in Sun Systems, our financial system, would be ideal.
